The Scope and Goals of The Competiton

"Finding Innovative and Creative Solutions for Society” (FICS) is a competition where students from National University of Science and Technology (NUST), one of Pakistan's leading universities with numerous international success, and other national and international universities can serve their society by applying their technical knowledge. It is designed to encourage interested students to identify social problems and think innovatively to design technology-based solutions. This initiative aims to instill a spirit of social entrepreneurship among students, encouraging them to transform their creative ideas into value-added solutions, thereby benefiting themselves and society. FICS is designed as an initiative that aims not only to encourage students to participate in community development projects, but also to instill a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in its youth.
FICS, a competition to encourage social entrepreneurship and the emergence of products and services that will benefit society, started 9 years ago by the NUST Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) and in 2015 has become a NUST-wide competition in scope and size. From the following years to the present, it has been organized regularly every year. It has hosted many national and international competitors.
This year, FICS is redefining itself to express its determination to bring meaningful solutions to common social problems, and for the first time in its history, is holding one part of the competition in a different country and at a different university. Gazi University has undertaken the Turkey responsibility of FICS 2023 under the name of "Ideas are Competing" and will host a competition event open to the participation of all national universities. This will be a step towards the vision of serving common social problems by acting inclusively and pluralistically to all participants.
